Anxiety Early Warning System

Our physical responses are connected to our mental and emotional experiences. They form a pattern of reaction to specific stimuli.

When you feel anxious, pay attention to what your body is doing in those moments. Try to identify the different ways in which your body is expressing that anxiety.

Be detailed! Really drill down into the specifics of the sensations.

Familiarising yourself with your particular physical expression of anxiety will help you identify the onset early in the process. Remember, it is a process. Anxiety doesn’t arrive full-blown and awful, it builds.

By spotting the early warning signs, you can help to diffuse it before it overwhelms.

How you diffuse it will depend on you. Each of us is unique and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. Try out different forms of relaxation, affirmations, visualisations… there are many lovely ways to approach this… so, have fun with it!
